I have just been doing some work around the house when I haven’t been running to a doctors appointment. I am slowly getting ready for the kids to be home on a daily basis, which I am not looking forward to. This is not because I don’t love the two little imps but because it will be daily complaints against each other and daily fights for me about what they are going to eat to the point where I almost just say “just eat chips! I don’t care anymore!” I have been trying to stay on top of the weeds in the garden as long as I feel ok. Things seem to be doing ok as long as we keep getting enough rain to keep it watered or allow us to water. Things are growing well. The only thing I can complain about is the ticks! We have had quite a few on us and the dogs already this year. I have picked quite a bit of road side asparagus and put it in the freezer for winter because after all fresh from the road is better! That’s it for now. Enjoy the pics!

I feel like lately I’ll I have been doing is running to the doctor. There rarely seems a day when I just get to stay home. I am trying to hopefully get all this done and settled down before the kids get out of school for the summer. I don’t like going so much while they are off. We finally got everything into the garden yesterday evening. I wasn’t sure if we were. It took about a week because Daniel was either busy or hot and tired because this week was abnormally warm. I have been running the kids to birthday parties on the weekends. We have been going to Funky’s skating a lot and we have another one tonight. I guess it’s just the end of the year rush! Life can be beautiful if you let it.

April 20, 2025

Today was Easter this year, but April 20th is also Isabel’s birthday! She turned 18! I can’t believe it. Time flies and I am getting old lol. Mom Foxx of course had a big meal as usual. Too much food and for the most part too many people for my liking but I stayed outside and talked to just a few people. Yesterday Isabel wanted to go thrift store shopping so Ginny, Tea and I took her. We were only out half a day but I was exhausted by the time we got back. I found me a few smaller clothes I hope that will fit me right now. She bought more stuff at Gabe’s for her animals than anywhere else. She sure does love them stupid things. Happy birthday Sissy, I love you!

Today I felt a little more energetic. I put some wood in my in-laws wood box and up at the old building for the campers. I picked up all the dog presents in the yard. I then decided to move one of my flower wheel barrows to a different flower bed and I transplanted some creeping phlox into both of my wheel barrows. This year I am trying something new in my flower pots. I am using fake water resistant flowers. I’ll post pictures to see what you think.

Not too much excitement here in the Foxx Den. Just working some more on the backyard, taking care of the kiddos and going to the dr. Same ol same ol! Yesterday evening I made steak and cheese subs and double smoked cheddar Mac and cheese for us and the in-laws. They said it almost tasted like Sergio’s in Bridgewater, so I was thrilled. For the subs get some shaved steak… starts with onions, peppers, garlic, get the almost done, throw in some Italian herb mix(preferably fresh) then pull apart and add your shaved steak, cook to your preferred steak temp top with cheese (I use Italian mix but use what you like) cut off and cover with lid to melt cheese. Scoop out onto buns (if you don’t have hoagie buns hamburger works ok) …. Enjoy!

Here it is April 9th already! The weekend flew by and Monday and Tuesday were kind of busy for a slow week. Over the weekend Daniel worked on the backyard and got it almost finished. He has a few more things to do. I went to my nephew’s ball game in Grottoes. He is such a good ball player. He steals those bases like Willie Mays Hayes in Major League…. lol showing my age! Sunday Daniel put up a fan in the kitchen and moved the kitchen light to the cubby area. He loves when I make him do those things. Monday my sister in law, Isabel, and I went and picked fresh road side asparagus super yummy. Tuesday I went grocery shopping and that took all day to go and put away. It just wears me out almost to the point I hate going. Today I just have to take the kids to a birthday party at Funkys skating park. They sure do love to skate.

Today I went on a whole day field trip with Preston for school. They went to Richmond and we visited the science museum and the civil war museum as part of their learning for school. I have been to the science museum before with Isabel but the Civil War museum was kind of cool why I could see of it chasing him through it lol. It was a fun but exhausting day for me. I came home did a few mom chores and went to sleep!

Happy Birthday to my Husband of 19 yrs. I hope he has a great day! It’s been a busy past couple days.On Sunday, Daniel trimmed our walnut trees and we put fence up around the garden in hopes that the deer stay out. Last year they still managed to jump the fence but here’s to hoping they forgot how to this year lol. Our yard is really coming alive. I planted some new daffodils too. Monday Daniel went and got another load of gravel so we can put more down out back to our backyard project of trying to make a nice place to hang out. It’s still a work in progress and I went for my red blood count increaser shot. Then he helped move Isabel’s room around so she could have an air conditioner of her own in her room. Preston played sick and was home from school Monday. I made egg dumpling soup with potatoes and kelbasa. My favorite food my great grandmother made. Today I put my winter clothes up and summer clothes in the closet and shaved some dogs for the summer. Tomorrow I have a small surgery to remove two lymph nodes for testing. Maybe after that a day or two or rest.

March 29, 2025

This morning I tried to have a yard sale at my house out here in Stokesville. Normally, Daniel and I drag our stuff all the way to Dayton because we have mad business there soooo I wasn’t expecting anything great here. Pretty much that’s what I got! Four whole people… but one wonderful person did buy a lot of the kids old paw patrol so that really did help the financial situation out. Then I went to see my wonderful nephew play baseball and as usual he gave me my usual heart attack while base running. When I don’t go to the games I watch him on my phone and I yell at it a lot lol. I came home and had food from the local store shout out to Stokesville Market. Then I shredded up some chicken to put into the freezer. It’s always good to have on had for quick and easy recipes.

March 28, 2025

I sit outside on this beautiful evening exhausted in my chair in the flower bed watching the cars drive by…. Because after all these years I still have no front porch big enough for it YET! I had a big day today but I am feeling it. I did laundry and dishes before I left for my internal surgery appointment this morning. Had that… going to have a couple of the lymph nodes removed and tested just because I have sooooo much going on right now next Wednesday….. then I stopped by to see my bff Becky. Got home ate, planted some onions, put some wood at the building, put out my summer decorations in the flower beds, picked up the dog presents in the yard, made the kids dinner, put some meat mom got me in the freezer, now I am tiiiiirrreeed! Just letting nature share its beauty before it gets dark.

March 27, 2025

Yesterday I went to the family doctor. They didn’t make any big changes due to the fact that I go to the internal surgeon tomorrow to have the lymph nodes checked tomorrow and the kidney doctor is dealing with the low hemoglobin problem at the moment but I may have to go to hematologist if it does not improve. Today, Preston had his bff Abby over. They always keep me busy. They were in the hot tub, driving the golf cart, jumping on the trampoline and the bouncy castle, and in and out of the house all day. Oh to be young and full of energy again. I set up for a yard sale in my building. I don’t know if it will be worth the time and effort but I guess we will see.

March 25, 2025

It was a typical mom spring break kind of day. I took Eva to the doctor again. She has an ear infection for the third time this year. So back on antibiotics and an ENT referral for little sassy. Came home and made lunch and I swear it wasn’t two hours later they were hollering again for food and pouting because I told them to get a snack I wasn’t making anymore food until dinner time. I think all they do when they are home is eat, play their tablets, and consume the tv. I got outside for a little today. It is nice to see all the blooms starting to emerge. I just hope a late frost doesn’t get them.

March 24, 2025

Spring break is this week for my littlest two. So today they got to go with daddy and get some gravel while I took big sissy for her two month medication check up. We got everyone McDonald’s on the way home for lunch. I made a strawberry upside cake for one of my favorite people in the world’s birthdays! Mrs Rosa Sheffer! My adopted momma! I love her to pieces…. I also picked her some beautiful daffodils…. Then I had some leftovers and quality time with the in-laws.

March 22, 2025

Yesterday I went to the cancer center and got myself a bag of blood like a vampire lol. My hemoglobin was really low Monday so they said I needed a blood transfusion. Today I got out in the yard with Daniel some and actually did more than five minutes worth of work so maybe it actually helped for now. I just wish they could figure out where I am losing blood. Eva helped us with the yard work which was nice to see one of our kids out actually being productive. We got most of the two scoops of mulch spread yesterday and the wildflowers spread. Things are starting to look nice for spring. I made garlic and oil pasta for dinner, which is my absolute favorite.

March 19, 2025

So yesterday evening Preston was in a math competition called The 24 Challenge! He didn’t make it into the top 16 but I was proud of his just for coming out of his shell and making the North River Elementary School team and competing at the county level. Afterwards the in-laws, the Queen Bee Memaw, and us went to Cracker Barrel and had supper. Of course, par the course after a few bites of broccoli and a biscuit I was nasuesa and sick. After going to the kidney doctor today he said that since my kidneys aren’t working like they are supposed to they aren’t making my red blood cells. So between that and losing them somewhere. My counts are so low I need blood Friday and that could be what is making me sick. We all know that’s what is making me extremely tired. I sometimes feel like this is never going to get better but my world doesn’t stop so I must not either.

March 17, 2025

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day everyone! Wear green, drink a beer and go kiss someone special!

March 16, 2025

The weather today was crazy. They said it was going to rain and storm all day but it only stormed this evening. Daniel was a busy boy today. He installed bars in my back windows to hold hanging plant baskets and then he hung a “million” shelves and string lights in Isabel’s newly “revamped” bathroom. I made homemade beef ragu. Starts with the holy trinity, add hamburger, paprika, Italian seasoning, tomato paste, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes (I used fresh) and noodles cooked in beef broth….. delicious!

March 15, 2025

It wasn’t as warm outside today thank you Mr Wind! But…. There is now dirt in the raised beds and a pile of mulch to be spread around them. Baby steps! It’s still early but for once I feel that Daniel and I are ahead of the game which is good because just the littlest things take a lot out of this 100lb girl. While Daniel loaded up some junk on his truck I noticed the camper wood was looking a little low so I did scrounge up some energy to put some wood up there. Major accomplishment I feel for the day is that my roosters didn’t fall over in the wind!

March 14, 2025

Sooooo…. Yesterday I realized I should probably be posting my new entries at the top of the page lol as no one would want to scroll alllllllll the way to the bottom to see new stuff! Duh! (Excuse the Gen X word) Yesterday I guess the kidneys were in their rare form because I felt bad and slept most of the day. Daniel did get the strawberry tire hopefully deer protected this year. Every year the deer usually gnaw the tops off!

March 7, 2025

So today is my first entry. I will start by saying that I had to dig out my old Lenovo computer yesterday and totally reset the whole thing because it was moving slower than my Hulu app when everyone is at home using the internet. That in itself took hours. Good thing it was a cold day, and I really had no other plans since I was feeling awful. I am back to generally having no energy, so I am doing very little during the day and saving all of my energy for when the kids get home. They require most of it as their wants are demanding after school. I am supposed to go to school and read with them this morning but I think I am sending my Memaw by herself as I still feel like rotten poo. Nothing too much exciting has happened here of late. I did make taco spaghetti last night…. quick and easy version….. I will do this recipe based on 2-4 people

Put a pot of water on stove and cook pasta of choice as directed. Chop up an 1/2 – 1 whole Onion and 2- 3 cloves of garlic fry them in pam or oil for 3-4 minutes. Add in a 1/2 -1 pound of hamburger fry until brown. Add a 1/2 – a whole packet of your favorite taco seasoning (or you can make your own), add a can of diced tomatoes, and a can of tomato sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes until heated through and the flavors meld. Add cooked and drained pasta. Stir everything together and enjoy. I add fresh herbs to mine while cooking and cheese while eating.

March12, 2025

So…. It’s been a few days. Not exactly what I had planned, but it’s been “busy” I guess. We had the standard weekend chaos of getting things done around the house… i.e. how much work can you cram into a 24 hr period plus I went to town both days with the kids and my mother in law. Monday came and we went car shopping since our car was on its last leg. We found something but more than we wanted to pay. So in debt we go. Isabel started painting her bathroom so we have chaos there. It’s been warm outside so I have been trying to get outside. Joy Joy! I made very flat hamburgers last night using my tortilla press with fries for Daniel and veggies for me.

March 13, 2025

Yesterday was another nice “false” spring day. So I tried to muster up some energy and I went outside. I started some work on my new raised garden beds that we are going to be putting in half of our garden. This is to hopefully save some havoc on my poor back with weeds. I also tried to make a little composting area where we kind of just dump all the weeds over on the hill near the road. After that I took a golf cart ride around the field while I waited for the bus. I found some of the Easter flowers had begun to bloom. I can’t wait to look back up at the house and see green and beautiful colors!!! For dinner I made cheeseburger egg rolls and balsamic honey pasta salad. Both were very good. I just wish I would eat more without getting sick. Basically for the egg rolls you fry up whatever you want inside then add cheese and lettuce if you want. Put it inside an egg roll wrap and fry it in oil till crispy. The pasta salad is add whatever ingredients you want and the dressing is as follows: 1/4c balsamic vinegar, 1/4 c olive oil, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tbsp Dijon mustard, 1tbsp honey
